Air Defense is unlocked at Town Hall 4 in Clash of Clans. This defensive building is one of my favorite as it is highly effective against aerial troops.
Air Defense has high Damage per Second and long range that makes it an important building.
In all my upgrade guides from Town Hall 4 to Town Hall 16 i always suggest to level up your Air Defense as early as possible.
As you move to higher town hall levels you will notice an increase in aerial attacks and this where a maxed out Air defense can protect your base.
The only downside of Air Defense is that it can target one troop at a time but since the DPS is above average therefore you won’t mind it.
Air Defense Max Levels List and Stats at each Town Hall in Clash of Clans
Air Defense has same Damage per second and Damage per shot therefore we have only included DPS in our table of Air Defense Max levels below.

You have only one Air Defense at TH4 and TH5 which will max out to level 3. You unlock your second air defense at TH6 and the two AD will level up to 4.

What is the max level for Air Defense at TH7?
You unlock your third Air Defense at Town Hall 7 and three will max out on level 5. It will take you three combined days to level up all three. By now your base will face aerial raids so place your AD in triangle formation.
A level 5 Air Defense with 190 DPS and 1000 hit points can handle lower level lightning spells and take down several dragons of opponent army.
What is the max level for Air Defense at TH8?
Your three Air Defenses will reach maximum level of 6 at Town Hall 8 in Clash of Clans. It will take you combined time of 4 days and 12 hours to upgrade all three.
Place hidden tesla and cannon near your air defense so that it ground troops doesn’t target it. A level 6 Air Defense has 1050 hit points but solid 230 DPS which makes it dangerous against minions and Dragons.
What is the max level for Air Defense at TH9?
You unlock your fourth and final Air defense at Town Hall 9 in Clash of Clans. All four will max out at level 7 taking a combined time of 8 days.
Place your AD in a diamond formation on your base so that your opponent doesn’t find any loophole. A level 7 Air defense with 280 DPS and 1100 hit points can easily take down electro dragons.
What is the max level for Air Defense at TH10?
The maximum level Air defense can reach at Town Hall 10 in CoC is level 8. The combined upgrade time will be 10 days.
By now you will see an increase in Aerial attacks therefore we advice you to place your traps, hidden tesla and even the newly unlocked Inferno tower in range of Air defense. At level 8, your Air defense will have 320 DPS and 1210 hit points.
What is the max level for Air Defense at TH11?
Town hall 11 allows you to max out your Air defenses to level 9 in just 12 days. Your opponents will use Lava Hounds, Lightning Spells and Electro Dragons against your Air Defenses.
Therefore you must spread out your AD and these should not be in your first line of Defense. A level 9 Air defense with 360 DPS and 1300 hit points might struggle against Lava Hound and Lightning spells of higher levels but if placed strategically it will come out as winner.
What is the max level for Air Defense at TH12?
You can level up your Air Defense to lvl 10 on Town Hall 12 in Clash of Clans in just 18 days (combined time).
At level 10, your Air defense will have following stats: 400 Damage Per Second and 1400 hit points.
What is the max level Air Defense on TH13 in Clash of Clans?
Your Air defense will reach maximum level of 11 in just 22 days at TH13 in Clash of Clans. At Town Hall 13 you will have all your hero unlocked therefore it is wise to place one hero with one air defense in a diamond formation.
A Level 11 AD with 440 DPS and 1500 hit points can take down Air units while the heroes can handle the ground units.
What is TH14 max Air Defense level?
You get to level up your Air Defense to level 12 on Town Hall 14 in 30 days. The Damage per second of a Level 12 AD will improve significantly and reach to 500 while the hit points will increase by 150 and reach to 1650.
What is the max level for Air Defense at Town Hall 15 in Clash of Clans?
The max Air Defence level at Town Hall 15 will be 13. You will need 34 days to max out all four Air defences. Since this is a long time period therefore we suggest you to use Book of Building or Hammer of building to upgrade instantly.
Your Level 13 AD will have 540 DPS and 1750 hit points.
What is the max Air Defense level on Town Hall 16 in CoC?
The newly introduces Town Hall 16 allows you to upgrade your Air Defense to its maximum level of 14. The time take to upgrade all 4 AD will be 60 days which can be reduced with the help of builder potions.
The Air Defense at level 14 will have 1850 hit points and 600 Damage per Second.
What is the max level of air Defence in Clash of Clans?
The maximum level of Air Defence in CoC is 14.
Can level 4 lightning spell destroy air defense?
It depends on the level of Lightning spell and the level of Air Defense. A general rule of thumb is that if the Lightning spell is 3 level down of the level of Air Defense then 3 light spells can easily destroy it. If it is even lower than 3 levels then one need to use more than 3 light spells or add earthquake spells.
Please note that Air Defense can neither be geared up nor it can be merged.
